The Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus (M.C.C.J.) first began their work in Kenya in 1972, arriving from Uganda and establishing their initial presence among the communities in West Pokot and later in other regions of the country. Over the years, their mission expanded through pastoral care, evangelization, education, and human development, especially among marginalized and underserved populations. The Comboni Missionaries’ Kenya Province was officially established to coordinate and strengthen their work in the country, and they have celebrated significant milestones, including a Golden Jubilee of fifty years of mission service in 2023/24. Today the Comboni Missionaries serve in several Catholic dioceses, including the Diocese of Kitale, Ngong, Lodwar, Marsabit and in the Archdiocese of Nairobi.
