On 30th June 2026, the Comboni Family, priests, brothers, and sisters, concluded an eight-day retreat held at Mwangaza Spirituality Centre, Nairobi, Kenya, under the theme “Missionaries on Fire.” The retreat took place from 22nd to 30th June 2026 and was directed by Rev. Fr. Peter Alenyo, MCCJ.
Fr. Alenyo guided the confreres and sisters gathered at the Jesuit-managed spirituality centre, reminding them that being in Christ is the essential foundation of being holy. It is by being with Christ, he emphasized, that missionaries are sent forth on fire to preach the Gospel. Hence, missionaries on fire.
“Holiness defines a religious, and through holiness we gain the capacity to be missionaries on fire,” he said.
Also present at the event were the Provincial Superior of Kenya, Rev. Fr. Andrew Wanjohi, MCCJ, Scholastic Mumbere Delphin, and Deacon Moses. Scholastic Mumbere and Deacon Moses are currently preparing for the diaconate, and priestly ordination on 11th July 2026 respectively.
